Over 250 children are celebrating throughout Lusaka’s Chongwe District following the official opening of the newly built Mwalukanga School.Â
, alongside other stakeholders, took part in the inauguration ceremony which was graced by the Minister of Education, the Honorable Douglas Syakalima. In his speech the honorable minister thanked ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ University for being a part of the initiative. He emphasised the importance of education which is why the New Dawn government has introduced free primary education.Â
Speaking on behalf of ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ University, Dr Marirajan Thirupatthi stressed the importance of helping those less privileged. He highlighted how ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ University works towards ensuring high quality education through its scholarship program. He also pointed out that ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ University is in the process of building a new campus, signifying its commitment to remaining in Zambia and improving the higher education status quo.
The stationary items donated by ÌÇÐÄ´«Ã½ University consisted of 600 A4 soft cover books, 100 pens, 300 pencils, 300 sharpeners, 200 rulers, and 100 mathematical sets.
Mwalukanga is a donor-built school pioneered and initiated by the Mrs Mizinga Melu-led foundation, . Prior to its completion pupils would have to walk 10 kilometres to the nearest school.
